Linguaenglish Totnes is a medium-sized school in a very special building in the city center and we pride ourselves on our friendly personal approach and flexibility. At our school in Totnes we have a brought mixture of different cultures from all over the world and 75 % of the students are between 16 and 40 years. Totnes is ten minutes away from the beautiful South Devon coast line, with miles of beautiful, award winning beaches with lots of adventure sports. From National Trust houses and gardens to beautiful coastal walks and picturesque seaside towns to shop in, South Devon has something for everyone. There is even a local vineyard! Totnes also boasts many eco buildings as well as an eclectic mix of architecture, including The Butterwalk – a Tudor covered walk way, and of course our school building, the Gate House, built in the early 16th Centure and rebuilt after the great Totnes fire of 1990.

Totnes was the first Transition Town, aiming to be a community that works together to increase economic stability and reduce climate destruction. Lots of local cafés and restaurants support this by sourcing local produce to reduce the miles food travels to reach our plates. Totnes is not just a typical small English town. As well as the fantastic, friendly people, the history and the relaxed atmosphere it has a vibrant restaurant and pub culture, is the centre of the Transition Town movement and is the home to many dynamic young creative people. Language in Totnes is a perfect example of this blend of modern and traditional, situated in the centre of the town in the old clock tower, but with the most modern classrooms available. This atmosphere will help you reach your English goals more quickly as you can engage with, talk to and share ideas with these local people as well as making friends for life from the town as well as the school. Totnes is also the perfect starting point to explore the rest of Devon, with excellent transport links to the cities of Exeter and Plymouth, local towns and villages. Dartmoor national park is just ten minutes away and is the size of London, with a breath taking green landscape, stone Tors, wild ponies, beautiful scenery and great outdoor activities like “Letter Boxing“.

At Linguaenglish Totnes you will get lots of personal attention from both our experienced teachers and our friendly support team. We are here to ensure you make the most of your time studying and increase your confidence speaking in English. In addition our school also offers Cambridge or IELTS exams (100 – 150 GBP) and is an exam centre for Trinity.
